I love M.C. Escher. Since I was a little boy I wanted to walk into his labyrinths. And there come the first level ; Wow. The dream come true. I was amazed.
But after 30 minutes on the game, I had a few things to reproach. I was not surrounded my the Escher Magic anymore.

The unique gameplay is only shown on Escher's level
Indeed after the first level the player face puzzles that are almost exactly the same as Portal ones, but with the non-euclidian gameplay. A cube, a button that open a door, doors that can "warp" you to an other side. A player that has played Portal already knows all the patterns about the great majority of the puzzles.
I think you should have drown your levels as simple drawings first, just trying to take up Escher's style, and not working on level design first.

The second thing that bothered me is a problem about level design. This game deals with labyrinths, and usually the direction the player must take is very unclear. Thus he attempts a way, but finish blocked and must restart the level from the beginning. This is not a cool game design, a player shall not be blamed for his curiosity and exploration.
Let's take the example of Portal, because it's the closest game. The levels are build so that you never have to restart a level, you can always "restart by yourself", going back to a point of the puzzle and re-create a cube if you have lost yours.

A last little thing, the font is not going very well with the voice. When I read it I feel the unfinished game. Maybe a font more holy, massive would be more appropriate.

Finally other than those things, great job. It will probably be one of my favourite games when all those troubles will be set.

Thank you for your remarks. Some of them I acknowledge and I want to address them in future releases or sequels. It's true that the latter parts of the game are more about solving puzzles and a lot less about interesting landscapes. Putting "companion" cubes on push plates may remind Portal a bit too much. I wanted the player to know immediately what he must do. But puzzles themselves are not at all the same than Portal (mechanics, solutions, ...). I hope that each of the 4 main puzzles can produce an epiphany for the player.

I do agree that exploring outside the main path is not very possible, and that you can get stuck in several puzzle, and being forced to reset. I didn't find simple solutions to avoid the player getting stuck, or loosing himself, or avoiding solving the puzzles. In the sequels, I will try to add more exploration level like the first room. I will also try to design puzzles with no fail state.

This game is realy cool, the graphic style is mysterious and the game is great. I need the second part !

Seems to be a great game ;) But I can't play. When I start it, the camera look up and never stop to rotate around y-axis (and I just see the ceiling turn).

Got an idea about that problem ?

Hi, this is probably an issue with a controller plugged on your computer. You can try unplugging gamepads or anything that could act like one. One person had an issue with a old 3D mouse driver that was installed, and uninstalling it made it work. You can also try to change the input mapping in the window that appear before the game really launch.

Let me know if any of this worked, sorry for the inconvenience and I hope you will be able to play.

This worked perfectly (far far ago) ! So i can confirm this a great game, really ! Congrats !

And i know; almost 1 year to reply... ;)

Being a squid is fun! Enjoy!

I got brain****ed while playing this game. It was the best brain**** I have ever had. Love it.

This game was so AMAZING!!

I'm looking forward to play the next chapter of this history ;)

Thank you so much for developping this game ! It's my favorite

oh my god this game is so so so fun!!!! It's not too challenging, but still really really great game, 100%, 5/5 plain ol' good.

I just finished this game and it was AMAZING. I really hope that a sequel is developed in the future bc I would love to play it. :)

Sorry for a newbie's question, but how on earth can you turn around? I have keyboard and keypad only and with the keys I can move or jump only, not turn.

The game is mainly playable using the mouse to turn the camera. You can also use a gamepad (the left stick). Sorry for the inconvenience. If you have a special reason for not being able to play with mouse or gamepad, let me know and I may make you a special version with full keyboard mapping.

It works! Somehow I managed to not get the touchpad to work but now it's all good. Thank you.

Nice ! I'm glad you made it work !

This was extremely awesome. I love the physics and I can't wait for the continuation of the story. I even have a suggestion if that's alright. You could use the redirection of lasers to activate doors instead of just buttons and cubes. :-)

Thank you for your kind words. I also think that redirecting lasers through portals could be a great idea !

Overall I found this quite brilliant. I'd love to see a sequel or full length game at some point.

Last episode which covers the final puzzles!

Beat the game in about an hour of exploration and trying to get out of bounds to outsmart areas. Great time playing and looking forward to more!

Can't rave about this game enough. Really beautifully done with the puzzles and perspective. I added it to my latest countdown at #1 (not a rank, just where it falls on the list)!

Thank you, I'm glad you liked the game ! Great video btw.

Thanks! Good luck with all your projects!

Taking a look at The Run and Meeting puzzles!

round of applause, this was so amazing, would definitely buy whatever comes next

When running it on linux, the beam from the laser is not visible from the screen shot. Everything else works.

PS: Amazing Game!

Thank you ! There is some small bugs I need to fix on Linux, yes. What are you meaning by "from the screen shot" ?

The pictures on the game page.

Ok, I will take a look, thank you for the info!

It was the same for me.

htc vive maybe?

People are already kind of dizzy after playing for a while, so .... But I would be curious to see how it feels, being in that place in VR.

Once I figured the mechanics it got interesting. Waiting for the next one.

Best geam 15/5

This is absolutely crazy in the most positive way anyone could interpret.

Please don't ever stop developing nice things like this. This is why we have nice things.

Hey Your game is pretty kickass,

I'm working on a video project called time capsules focusing on game indie devs. It's similar to sending a message to your self in 50 years;

Only five questions for my documentary:

1. What feature in your game can the player not experience anywhere else?

2. What's the biggest personal obstacle you had to overcome in creating your game so far? (it could be super technical or anything else that you want to talk about)

3. Who helped you decide to become a game dev?

4. What feature of the game do you absolutely love that no one would probably ever find?

5. What do you believe video games mean to humanity?

First couple of episodes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhJ3ssjfCgs&t=0s

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0NvEYmqtQ8

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQmeXgsqhBM

if you have some game footage or even better developmental footage of errors or other stuff you'd like to show people who have never programmed a day in their life.

also best ways to contact you, and all social media you use because I'll be displaying those through out the episode.

I think if people dig the game and dig your story they might reach out for questions or colabs you really never know what can come of it.

do you think you'd be interested in being my guest?

Very enjoyable game! In this video I cover the beginning of the game and the Lone Cube puzzle!

where is the secret place at the begining ? it's a fake, just for trolling the player ? XD

Loved the game! Really unique and fun! Although I was not able to get past the first "real challenge" I did record me playing this game and put it up on my youtube channel! I will be coming back to this game! Really enjoyed it nevertheless! Good job! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-qP83RKJWM

I really enjoy this game, its mind boggling but really really fun, good job creating this!

AMAZING GAME! I loved it all the way through, want to see MORE!

I really liked it! I can't wait to see more

Don't let the thumbnail fool you, this is Fragments of Euclid.
This game is an amazing puzzle platformer, but I mean if you want to see more just watch the video, maybe drop a like or sub while you're there ;)

Very good game, loved to puzzles and graphics, just needed more directions to follow

I thought the game was good, but with the lack of any direction or route to follow, I find myself becoming constantly lost and walking into blue gates everywhere. I might just have too little patience V(*-*)V Great game.
